Choosing the best DJ turntables can be a bit of a minefield as today there are many options available to you from Cheap Turntables or the more expensive Technics Vinyl Decks plus we have the added option of Digital Media Technology and all of which can easily overwhelm the novice or beginner DJ when they are selecting or upgrading their equipment. However, in real terms there is only one main choice with all the DJ formats and that is either opting for the ever popular analogue (Vinyl Records) or digital variations of equipment (CD & MP3).

How Does Old Meet New in Today’s Modern Digital Era?

Well, more traditional DJ’s will still insist on staying with their vinyl records and using analogue turntables, such as the brilliant Technics sl1200 and newer 1210 series decks. The tangible advantages of analogue equipment do include realistic sound qualities plus the touch and feel of an actual record in your hand which can be manipulated on a turntable. Many old school DJ’s feel that the modern digital era has lost the more personal and meaningful touch as their way was the approach of finding rare recordings or unique mixes of music that somehow resulted in a personal journey from visiting back street record shops or spending hours sifting through the dusty record collection.

Digital Turntables and Digital Media Technology products are here to stay, maybe some will not embrace the concept, but there are some definite up sides to using digital format and foremost is the portability and the availability of music via the internet. Who thought that the internet would be the music shop of choice for almost 85% of the worldwide DJ population just 30 years after it came of age.

Digital CD Player Turntables have now become the DJ’s standard choice of player and both MP3 and iPod players can be attached to most CD decks or Digital DJ Mixers. For the possibility of music manipulation and extreme choice of playback possibilities you cannot question that the digital era has brought with it many possibilities.

The choice remains that for many DJ’s, who just cannot let go of the vinyl record, they can be safe in the knowledge that Technics 1210 turntables will exist in nightclubs across the world for many years to come. However, increasing number of music venues are adding new digital equipment in the form of digital mixers and digital CD players to their equipment setups but these are in addition and not replacing the old analogue decks.
