If you ever had to endure back pain, you’re definitely not alone. It’s estimated that 8 out of 10 people have experienced acute (sudden but temporary) or chronic (long-lasting) back pain at some point in their lives. Back pain can involve a wide range of pain levels from a mild discomfort to debilitating and life changing.
Most acute cases go away on its own, whether or not you treat it with medications or other therapeutic options, but sometimes it doesn’t. The general consensus is that when dealing with chronic low back pain, that last longer than six weeks, strong pharmaceutical drugs and/or surgery is the only solution. However, there are dozens of alternative solutions for chronic back pain that can offer some very effective options.
Most acute cases (sudden but temporary) appear to go away on their own however, sometimes they simply don’t go away (chronic cases). Lower back pain is statistically only second to the common cold as the primary reason why people miss work. It is also one of the most common reasons to visit the doctor’s office or even a hospital’s emergency room. Whenever the back pain condition continues for more than six weeks, the conventional approach usually involves very strong pharmaceutical drugs and surgery as a solution. However, there are plenty of alternative options available and finding the right solution that will work for you can be time consuming and even discouraging.
One method in particular is considered very effective and has been established by both NASA and used by the military. It was a discovery made by NASA back in 1973 with the launch of Skylab involving three astronauts Paul Weitz, Pete Conrad and Joseph Kerwin. They were in space for almost a month involving a study to determine the effects space travel has on the human body. Upon the astronauts return, they discovered that the astronauts appeared to have grown by up to 3 inches. Within less than 2 weeks after their return, their heights returned to normal confirming the theory that our spines can decompress. This is the premise behind a very effective method to eliminating a bulging disc.
This method is also commonly used by the military (known as “Inverted Decompression and Mobilization), they realized that training soldiers can place an enormous amount of stress on their bodies. This leads to compression of the spine which, in turn, leads to serious back problems. Considering the stress the soldier endure while training, with all the required jumping and running while performing strenuous military exercises, the decompressing of the spine method has proven to be a very effective preventative action.
Most doctors are traditionally trained, educated and limited in the use of these conventional methods and not necessarily even aware of effective alternatives. This leaves many sufferers with a very worrisome prospect considering how much fear can accompany the disc surgery option. This fear is justified considering that invasive surgery is so close to the spinal cord, but patients also dread the prospect of long hospital stays, general anesthesia and hours on the operating table….not to mention the long bout with recovery time.
One very effective and proven method that eliminates any need for conventional surgery involves a finding from NASA that is currently being used by the military. It was discovered by NASA back in the early seventies with the launch of Skylab 2. The purpose of Skylab was to evaluate the effects space has on astronauts. Interestingly enough, when the astronauts returned they had grown in height by up to three inches. Proving, that the human spine can be decompressed which is the premise behind this unique method in eliminating a bulging disc. The military calls this technique “Inverted Decompression and Mobilization” which they use on their soldiers, during the vigorous training, as a preventative measure.
Being diagnosed with a bulging disc can leave you feeling very nervous, especially when you’re dealing with very painful symptoms that could be lasting for months, years or even the rest of your life. However, being diagnosed with a bulging disc may not be the end of the world now with so many effective treatment options to choose from. The best approach is to do some good investigation on your own and discuss these options with your doctor.
