When you plan a baby shower, you want it to be an unforgettable event. Even if it is a mother’s 5th shower, you still want her to feel special because everyone is there to celebrate her and the new bundle of joy. From the food to the games, the goal is for everyone to have a great time and celebrate the upcoming baby. Well the good news is that planning a baby shower doesn’t have to be a difficult task. In fact, when done correctly, planning a baby shower can actually be a fun and rewarding experience. With these ideas, you are on your way to planning an unforgettable baby shower that everyone will remember.

1. Budget it. As with any party, you want to set a budget for the baby shower. It is important to set a budget and stick to it, because the focus of the shower isn’t really the food or the decorations, instead is a fun way for everyone to come together and shower the mom-to-be with gifts to help her be able to care for her new baby. When you set your budget, try to divide it according to how you will use it. It is a good idea to set aside a certain amount for food, decoration, games, etc. Many times the person who hosts the shower for the expectant mother isn’t expected to buy a gift for the baby, so you don’t have to worry about spending additional money for a gift.

2. Game plan. While many mothers-to-be may prefer to skip the traditional baby shower games, some people love playing them. If you are not sure about the group’s response to the games, it is a good idea to arrange games where participation is optional. For example you could play a guessing game that allows guests to guess how many jellybeans are in the baby bottle. Or guests could see if they can guess how many diapers are in the diaper bag. You should have several game stations set up so those who want to participate can play all of the games, but those who don’t want to play won’t feel pressure to participate. It is always fun to have a few prizes for the winners of the games, and be sure to announce the fact that there are prizes ahead of time. This may persuade more of the guests to join in on the fun.

3. Picture perfect. Many times the shower is such a whirlwind that the mom-to-be doesn’t have time to really enjoy the experience. It is a good idea to ask someone who is responsible to take pictures throughout the shower so the new mom can look back at the pictures once things have calmed down. It can also be fun to have someone to take pictures of the guest of honor with her gifts. If the expectant mother is into scrapbooking, organizing those pictures can be a fun distraction for her leading up to birth of her precious baby.

When you are planning the baby shower, don’t feel stressed if everything doesn’t come together the way you envisioned it. Everyone will still have a great time because everyone loves a baby shower.
