What do you do if someone asks you to take their picture? If they hand you something that belongs in a science fiction film, you likely hand it back with an excuse like you haven’t the time. If you are handed one of the modern point and shoot digital cameras readily available nowadays, you are quite comfortable to assist.

If you still have an old “film-job” – the kind where you need to buy film at the store and try to load it into the back of the camera – it’s time to upgrade. If you’re not fighting to read the tiny-print of the insert, you may be struggling with lining-up the little holes with the guide-knobs of the feeding unit. All of these problems – and many more – associated with film-type cameras can easily be avoided.

Your dad might have given you the old family camera. He was smart enough to have updated and upgraded this piece of archaeological machinery with a quick and efficient, point and shoot version. You thanked him – awkwardly – and put it aside for future-use. Along comes the little-one’s birthday. You pull-out the relic, but have no idea how to use it. You read – quickly – and point and shoot rolls of film – moments that may never happen again.

Several weeks later you are invited to view the pictures your wife retrieved from the photo lab. You cringe when you see the blurry and dark mess you filmed with the ancient family heirloom. You blame it on your parents and rush-out to get a long-overdue replacement!

Things may have never gotten this bad. They never should either. If you are like most people, you want a quick and easy to use camera. You don’t have the time to read about focal lengths and light filters just to take a picture. The perfect device is available.

With a point and shoot digital, camera film is unnecessary. There is a memory that stores your pictures digitally – much like the memory in your computer. With this convenience comes the ability to immediately view what you have shot – right away – on the screen of the camera. No waiting for film to be developed at the store.

There is no compromise when it comes to quality. Digital cameras produce clearer and more useful pictures than film cameras. With optical and digital zoom features, you can easily zoom in on your subject making for a better picture. The digital feature allows for making a portion of the original picture larger if desired.

There are many inexpensive point and shoot digital cameras for the non-photographer interested in capturing quick – special moment shots. There are similar cameras that have slightly – or greatly – better zooming abilities. Although they are sold as point and shoot, many have filming ability that do the work a camcorder does.

Printing your own pictures at home, or printing pictures instantly at a store booth, along with no need for film is enough of a selling point to realize the need for one of these devices. The fact that you will get a far superior picture that can be enlarged is but another. Knowing it is nearly impossible to take a bad shot is – again – simply another reason to get one of the many available point and shoot digital cameras in stores, today.
