The power of beautiful skin is not to be underestimated. Smooth, healthy skin can make you look younger, feel better, and appear more attractive. Taking care of your skin ensures that it will remain strong and firm. One of the best ways to make skin smooth is by using a quality cleanser.
There are several steps to take in caring for your skin. The step to kick it all off is cleansing. To cleanse you skin, first prep your pores with a warm, wet washcloth. This allows the pores to open, which leads to a deeper clean and better removal of oils and bacteria. Cleansing gently by rubbing dime-sized amount of your favorite cleanser across your face with a washcloth can be an adequate way to refresh and rejuvenate skin.
Cleansers come in many different forms, and suit a variety of skin needs. It is important to buy a cleanser which suits you. While it might be tempting to just use bar soap, a cleanser specifically formulated for your skin type will be less drying and leave skin looking and feeling healthier. Cleansers should be non comedogenic only, meaning that they do not contain oil. Oil can clog pores and cause breakouts.
Bar soap is not formulated for skin care usage and may actually dry out skin. A creamy cleanser works for dry skin, while oily skin normally works better with a clear cleanser. A dime-sized amount of cleanser is usually enough to achieve the desired effects. Cleanse skin gently, rubbing skin with a washcloth to remove bacteria and excess oil from your face.
Exfoliation is the third step, and the one most often skipped. Exfoliating is important because it sloughs away dead skin cells, which dull your complexion and make you look older. Exfoliation can be completed with a daily scrub, or a microdermabrasion kit, which should be weekly. Retinoids can also be used to remove the dead upper layer of the skin and generate collagen, skin’s structural fiber. The breakdown of collagen leads to several signs of aging, including enlarged pores and lines. A toner can also be implemented in this step of a skin care routine. Toners are a personal preference, although many people like the way that a toner can tighten up skin and remove remaining oil.
Moisturizing is another step in a daily skincare routine. Even the oiliest skin can be helped with moisturizer. The job of moisturizer is to hydrate skin, and can be use to seal in moisture. However, if you have extreme acne, it may be a good idea to skip moisturizer, which can sometimes lead to clogged pores. Using a small amount of moisturizer is fine and is much preferable to over-moisturizing. Eye cream can also be used to complete this step.
The final step in skin care is applying sunscreen, which can help protect skin from sun damage. Dermatologists point to sun damage as the biggest culprit of producing wrinkles and lines. Skin cancer is a huge risk with the wearing away of the ozone layer, so it is more important now than ever to protect skin from sun. Moisturizers often contain sunscreen, so make sure that your moisturizer has SPF protection. For extra credit, take vitamins that help to maintain skin health. Vitamins A, C, D, and E can help to keep skin healthy.
