When it comes to choosing a printer for your business, it’s hard to know which type is the best to get; a laser printer or inkjet printer. Using a laser printer in your office has its advantages. They tend to outlast inkjet printers, and are very easy to maintain. They cost a lot more than inkjet printers but the expense is offset by the fact that the cartridge of a laser printer will last a lot longer than the smaller cartridges that come with inkjet printers that you have to constantly repurchase if you do a lot of printing.
Taking the above into account, the main aspect to consider with your printer selection is the volume of printing that is required of the printer. If it’s a large amount, then this has to be taken as your main consideration when selecting a printer.
You’ll also want to consider whether you want the printer to be networked among many staff now, or in the future as the business grows. This is worth thinking about now as it will impact how much memory you’ll want the printer to hold as well as the speed at which it prints. If it is being used by many, you will need a printer with a high printing (ppm) speed so you don’t have staff being held up waiting for their print jobs to be printed, especially if they’re needed in a hurry.
In addition to the printing speed, the print resolution needs to be taken into account when researching the right printer for your office needs. This is especially important if you are printing out brochures or images and want detailed clean images.
Of course the bottom line when purchasing a printer is the budget you have to spend on one. The prices can range from the hundreds into many thousands of dollars, depending on your printing requirements. This will be based on things like whether your business does mostly black and white printing or color printing.
If you mainly print out documents in black white a simple laser jet print may be all you need for your office. If you do a lot of color printing, inkjet printers may be a more suitable alternative for your office.
Going to printer review sites online is an easy and convenient way to do your printer research. All the specifications like ppm and print resolution are all in the one place at your fingertips. Often they have customer reviews and ratings on there as well.
